Bardo Training
Gaming for the computerphob on a spiritual path
.....and definitely not young enough to be part of the gamer generation
By Christiane Wolters
I remember the first time I played a video game online. I had bought a computer just for that purpose as I did not have anything but a friend's old laptop he had set up for me which I used for e-mail only. I am computerphob, that is worse than a noob, you see. (In case you do not know what a noob is, you most certainly are one!)
I had to install the game with some help and then, there I was in the rogue encampment with my amazon. I thought she moved a bit awkwardly, but I got used to it.
It it too embarrassing to tell you how long it took me to use the keyboard for any gaming functions. I used the little picture thingys there.
Anyway, soon enough I ventured out there into the wilderness looking for some den as the quest required. ..and I encountered some monsters making strange noises. My job was to kill them. Geez, I am not into killing and it was with some discomfort that I did. Noticing the internal body sensations while doing this, I wondered at the time how this will change me... you know, the me here behind the screen.
So the journey started...and what an adventure it has been in the 2 years and 6 weeks since then. It changed my life. Mind you, I was ready, but without experiencing what happened in gaming, I would not be where I am today: in boot camp for the next Bardo.
The only reason I finally decided to play a videogame was this: It was recommended as a powerful
TOOL by someone who had shown up on my path as the one I was supposed to work with.
And....I really wanted to play the GODD games, and playing this game was part of the preparation for it.
